The heat has arrived and is expected to remain during the Easter school holidays, which will tempt many to enjoy the beach. But, recalled the National Maritime Authority, it is necessary to adopt "a culture of active safety, redoubling care along the waterline" bearing in mind that the bathing season has not yet started and that the beaches are "unsupervised and unmarked".

Anyone who insists on taking a swim in the spring sea should pay “special attention when entering the water, bearing in mind that the gradient profiles (slope) of the beaches are not yet smoothed, there are more favorable conditions for forming agueiros”, warned this entity.

In a statement, AMN also recalled the good practices that should be observed when going to the beach, which gain even greater importance when there is no lifeguard and means of assistance around.

In other words, “risk behaviors must be avoided, with prevention and safety measures being more rigorously respected”.

Thus, whoever goes to the beach is advised not to turn their back on the sea and not to walk on wet sand», to avoid being caught by a sea blow.

Special attention is also recommended for children, who must be kept «under permanent supervision» and must not «play in the wet sand area or near the watercourse.

«Remember that the temperature of the sea water is still very low, which increases the thermal shock. In case of doubt about the state of the sea or if you do not know how to swim, do not risk and avoid entering the water", concluded the Maritime Authority.
