The Youth Basketball Party, which brought together for five days, in Albufeira, a total of 1400 players, coaches and directors, ended this Tuesday.
The morning of the last day of the competition was marked by the dispute for the Finals of the Basketball Festival at the various levels, at the Albufeira Sports Pavilion, Albufeira Basic and Secondary School, in Vale Pedras, and Francisco Neves.
The regional teams of Porto and Lisbon conquered the first places on the podium, with Porto standing out in the Under 14 Men and Women and in the Under 16 Men. The Lisbon team won in Men's Under 16s.
The closing ceremony included interventions by Manuel Fernandes, president of the FPB, and Custódio Moreno, regional director of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), who were satisfied with the solidarity and fair play at the event.
Carlos Silva e Sousa, mayor of Albufeira, classified all athletes as "champions for the way they behaved on and off the field" and highlighted the municipality's desire to continue hosting these events.
The event was also marked by "surprises", according to the City Council of Albufeira. The municipality highlights the use of 214 digital bulletins that replaced the traditional game bulletins, the All Stars Tournament, Basket Solidário, the Livestream of all games, the official statistics with play-by-play in all 198 matches, the Mascot Blitz, the Fair-play White Card, the Coca-Cola Active Park and the giant screen of the fun addict.
Also within the scope of the event, at Praça dos Pescadores, a human logo was created with the blue ribbon of the Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth, under the motto “+ Basket, + Afetos”, in an action alluding to the Month of Prevention of Maluses Childhood Treatments.
