The biggest ever Mar Algarve – Feira do Mar takes place on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of March, at Portimão Arena. The Blue Economy is thus once again highlighted in an event that aims to promote, create value and boost the entire sector linked to the sea and maritime activities in the economic, cultural, educational, sports and leisure components.

This edition has, for the first time, the institutional support of the Ministry of the Sea, symbolized by the presence of the Secretary of State for Fisheries José Apolinário, at the opening session, on the 23rd, and on the second day of the fair, on March 24th, for the visit by Minister Ana Paula Vitorino.

The show has more than 70 Exhibitors, which will occupy twice the exhibition area of ​​the 2014 edition, of which companies such as blow, Nauiber, Sun Concept or Angel Pilot, as well as other fishing and nautical businesses.

At the level of entities, the Algarve Town Councils, IPMA, the University of Algarve, CCMAR, CIMA, the Navy, various naval clubs in the Algarve, Marinas do Algarve and the Administration of the Port of Sines will be represented.

As usual, Mar Algarve will have an extensive program of conferences, which is one of the highlights of the event. In this edition, highlight, on March 23, at 15 pm, the seminar “The RIS3 Algarve and the Sea – paths to smart regional specialization”, which will consist of two panels: The Sea at RIS3 Algarve – Specialization Strategy Intelligent Regional” and “Research and Innovate in the Algarve Sea”.

On the 24th, after the visit during the morning of the Minister of the Sea, the Case Studies will take place from 14 pm onwards, with emphasis on the presentation of the Mission Structure for the Extension of the Continental Shelf, as well as the project wind float, by EDP, on the production of wind energy offshore, and the Atlantic Action Plan to Support the Economy of the Sea in the Atlantic Area.

On Saturday, March 25, from 10:30 am, the I will take place in the auditorium of Portimão Arena. Congress of Maritime-Tourism, where issues related to the management of space and marine resources in the Algarve will be discussed. The theme of Diving and Licensing will also be addressed.

In the space of the Fair, there will also be two photographic exhibitions: “O Desafio do Mar”, by the Museum of Portimão, and “L'Hermione”, a French frigate rebuilt to the scale of the original, dating from the XNUMXth century, on which the Marquis de Lafayette sailed towards America, to help the insurgents Americans in the war for independence against England, this ship having become a symbol of brotherhood and friendship among peoples. It is organized by the French community (UFE).

With the support of the municipality of Portimão, the French community is organizing the arrival of this frigate to Portimão in 2018, being the only Portuguese port where it will stop, on a journey across the Mediterranean Sea, departing from the Port of Rochefort, sailing south, passing through the Algarve coast and several ports on the Mediterranean.

During the Mar Algarve – Feira do Mar'17, there will be a open visit to Meios Navais of the Portuguese Navy, at the Navy Pier in the Port of Portimão, every day between 11:00 and 12:30 and from 14:00 to 18:00.

The ships moored there will be the NTM Creoula, a former codfisher converted into a Portuguese Navy training vessel, and the NRP Argos, a Quick Inspection boat built at Arsenal do Alfeite.

Also on a daily basis, at Portimão Arena, diving baptisms between 10:00 and 19:00, organized by the company SubNauta – Dive the Algarve. The gathering place will be next to SubNauta's stand in Portimão Arena, with free registration.

Anyone who visits Mar Algarve – Feira do Mar'17, can still qualify for the raffle of various tours and nautical and maritime-tourist experiences in charge of the exhibitors present at the fair, as well as entrances to the VIP zone and visits paddock of the F1 World Championship in Power Boating – Grand Prix of Portugal, which will take place from 21 to 23 April in the riverside area of ​​Portimão.

On the outward journey, the customer will pay for the trip at the normal price. Upon return, upon presentation of the stub of the entrance ticket to the fair and the ticket for the outward journey, a 30% reduction in the value of the ticket (return) will be applied.
