The Algarve selection of children and youth Swimming was ranked 7th in the XXV Taça Vale do Tejo, which brought together eleven teams from different regions, and was disputed last Saturday, March 11th, at the Abrantes Municipal Swimming Pools.

In total, the Algarve team earned 219 points.

Despite the result, there were prominent athletes, such as Afonso Mestre, from Tavira Natação Clube, who achieved the silver medal in children's, in the 100 meters moth event, and Clara Rodrigues, from the same team and who achieved the same feat, in the 50 meters free.

Inês Alves, from Portinado, won the bronze medal in the 100 meters backstroke and in the 200 styles. Finally, João Cristina, from Louletano, was in 3rd place in the 100 meters breaststroke.

The competition was won by the Lisbon team with 354 points, followed by the teams from North Portugal and Center North Portugal.

According to the Algarve Swimming Association (ANAlgarve), in this competition «the team spirit and commitment of all» Algarve athletes was expressed. Filipa Lopes, technical director of Analgarve, and coaches Jorge Gomes, from Louletano, and Rui Gomes, from Portinado, accompanied the swimmers.
