The facilities of the Lauroé, Loulé, and Albufeira Family Health Units, both provisional, will undergo repair work, to guarantee minimum operating conditions until a definitive solution is found. Second revealed to Sul Informação the president of the Algarve Regional Health Administration, "until summer" a new roof will be placed in the prefabricated modules where the USF work, to avoid water infiltration that has occurred.

«For now, we are going to make an investment in a new coverage that will avoid the existing problems. This is a process that we are finishing and that we will have completed by the summer. The buildings have had almost no maintenance over the years [functioning since 2010]. (…) The investment will be 40 thousand euros plus VAT», said Paulo Morgado, in an interview with our newspaper.

Last December, the Union of Nurses denounced the lack of conditions in the two health units in the Algarve, both operating in temporary installations. They even claimed that medical consultations were given in rooms where water entered, illustrating their complaint with a photograph of a clinician with an open umbrella inside the office.

At the time, despite ensuring that rain consultations can only have happened with disrespect for the rules, the ARS do Algarve admitted that the conditions were not ideal. On the other hand, he announced that the concession of land for the construction of new buildings to house the USF was being negotiated with the Municipalities of Loulé and Albufeira.

About four months later and after the entry of a new president in the ARS do Algarve, there will have been little progress in these processes.

«This is still at a somewhat embryonic stage, but we will definitely reach an agreement with the Loulé and Albufeira Chambers. We are in talks. The Municipality of Loulé is solving a problem with the land to start the process. With Albufeira, I only had a first contact with the mayor and I still don't know where we are. But I know that there is all the will on the part of the autarchy to find a solution», framed Paulo Morgado, in your interview with Sul Informação.
