"VOTE TO REGREE No. 208/XIII
FOR THE DEATH OF ALBERTO SANTOS PEREIRA

At the age of 80, Alberto Fernandes dos Santos Pereira, a native of Povoação de Cuma, Huambo, Angola passed away.
Graduated in medicine, specializing in general and tropical surgery, he worked for many years at the District Hospital of Faro, admittedly with courage and known competence.

His indelible spirit of civic service led him to found and direct, since 1994, the Oncological Association of the Algarve, made up of volunteers with personal and professional experience of problems associated with cancer, which performs a remarkable job in the fight against this scourge , whether in terms of prevention, helping cancer patients and integrating them into the community. It did so in multiple ways, among which the Mobile Breast Cancer Screening Unit – through fundraising, such as the annual Mamamaratona event –, the XXI Health Program and the Algarve Radiotherapy Unit.

Among various distinctions, in 2012, he was awarded the Medal of Merit – Gold Degree by the Ministry of Health.
A very notable man, inexhaustible in the energy he devoted to the battles he embraced, he leaves a humanist and supportive legacy, which motivates the assertion that a noble citizen has been lost, and that the Assembly of the Republic express its regret and address its condolences to his relatives , as well as the Oncological Association of the Algarve.

The Deputies,
North Christopher | António Eusébio | Teresa Caeiro | João Vasconcelos | Paulo Sa
