The program "Faro Requalifies 2", which had been stopped, in 2016, due to the Government veto of the investment plan of the municipality of Faro, will start again this year. The local authority signed, this Tuesday, the works contracts for the repaving of several arteries in the county.
The repaving of Largo do Sol Posto, Rua Batista Lopes, Rua do Sol, Rua da Conceição, Travessa da Conceição, Rua Lethes and Estrada de São Luís will be the first projects to advance.
The Chamber of Faro explains that «in addition to the complete repaving of the arteries, these works also include the restoration of sidewalks, vertical and horizontal signage and, in Estrada de S. Luís, they also include the implementation of a loading and unloading area».
The works were awarded to the company “Sociedade Candeias & Silva, Lda”, and the intervention in Largo do Sol Posto will cost around 38 thousand euros + VAT and will have a completion period of 45 days and the repaving of the Estrada de São Luís vai cost close to 66 thousand euros + VAT, and has an execution period of 60 days.
«In ideal conditions, the program “Faro Requalifica II” would already be at a more advanced stage of its implementation. However, the Government's refusal to ratify the municipal investment plan resulting from the budget review approved last July, delayed the application of about 3,45 million euros, which only from this year can be invested for the benefit of the population» , refers the Chamber of Faro.
To Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, «we need to get down to work and make up for the time we lost. These are fundamental interventions that will restore comfort, safety and aesthetics to central areas of our city. We will very soon announce more works, not only in the city, but also in the parishes to which the Faro Requalifica 2 will continue to pay great attention».
