O solar boat designed by the Algarve company Sun Concept is at Boot, Düsseldorf (Germany), to find customers for this original vessel. O Sul Informação spoke with João Paulo Bastos, commercial responsible for Sun Concept, about the presence of the company from Olhão in what is the largest nautical fair in the world.

Sul Informação – Being here at Boot Düsseldorf 2017 and having an exhibition space of almost 50 square meters is a huge effort for a young company like Sun Concept.
What made you participate in Boot 2017?

Joao Paulo Bastos – Any person or company that has a nautical product has to be at Boot Düsseldorf, clearly the biggest fair in the sector! We are here to exhibit our Sun Sailer 7.0 vessel, which, by the way, is the only electro solar vessel to be presented at Boot, which is for us a great satisfaction and recognition of the product innovation.
But, in addition to this innovative presentation, this boat has sustainable and financially very profitable features, which have been highly appreciated by potential customers and suppliers.
This search for international contacts is crucial to give visibility to our projects and to relaunch our company - the development of the concept of self-sustainability in the nautical world, through the creation and series production of sustainable vessels with almost zero and ecologically balanced use costs, is one of our goals!

SI – The boat that is on display, what does it mean for Sun Concept?
JPB – It is the presentation of a sustainable and marketable concrete product, which people can see and appreciate its opportunity and energy efficiency, with an almost free use cost and highly competitive, compared to existing motorizable proposals and whose ecological footprint is quite considerable.

AM – What do you expect from this participation in Boot Düsseldorf?
JPB – For now, after these three days, expectations are quite positive and we think that the best is yet to come. But we already have in our portfolio some contacts of potential suppliers of materials and equipment for our boats, some potential distributors, as well as some customers.
