The sound of the bagpipes, the drums, the flute of the snake charmer, is mixed these days with the voices of various nationalities in the streets of Paderne. Until Sunday, January 1st, the village in the interior of the municipality of Albufeira goes back in time to the Middle Ages.

The journey into the past is made through the recreation of the medieval market that extends along the narrow alleys of the village, invaded for four days by the smells and flavors of gastronomic delicacies, the representation of arts and crafts and various performances alluding to the time.

The high point of the event is scheduled for the first day of 2017, at 15 pm, with a historical procession that portrays the ceremony of handing over the Donation Letter from the Castle of Paderne, by D. Dinis, to the Order of Avis.

Entrance is free for children up to 12 years old and costs only 1,5 euros for older ones. There are many small taverns along the streets, as well as restaurants in the village for eating and snacking.
