The vice-president of the Chamber of Loulé Hugo Nunes received, yesterday, the 17th of November, the award «Municipality Friend of Sport», presented to Loulé by the Portuguese Association for Sport Management (APOGESD), during the XVII Congress of this association, which takes place in Setúbal.
This award aims to «recognise, distinguish, promote and reward good practices in the management of sport in Portuguese municipalities, within the scope of promoting sports development in their territories», explains the Loulé local authority.
This recognition is made in relation to the intervention that municipalities have in terms of sports development in general and, in particular, in the management of artificial and natural sports facilities, in the management of sports events and in the management of sports programs.
Thus, the award «Friend of Sport» was based on ten areas of analysis: sports organization, facilities, events, programs, ecological sustainability strategies, solidarity sports, partnerships, sports reality, legislation, marketing and innovation.
On the other hand, the awarding of the award focuses on different aspects of sport management, such as the implemented management model and its results, the development of a sustainable attitude through sport, the solidarity and inclusive approach through sport and excellence and scope of intervention models.
This reward goes now to bring together a network of cities in which APOGESD proposes to «monitor, recognize and disseminate good intervention practices, at the municipal level, of Portuguese sports development», says the Câmara de Loulé.
Among the benefits of the award for the municipalities is, for example, the inclusion in the digital yearbook of "Municipalities Friends of Sport", access to a database of indicators. benchmarking management of sport and access to continuing education opportunities.
According to Hugo Nunes, vice-president and responsible for Sports in the Municipality of Loulé, the award «Friend of Sports Municipality» «is the recognition of the work that has been developed for decades by the Municipality and the associative movement and that culminated with the project Loulé European City of Sport 2015».
Loulé, says the municipality, maintains this «Commitment to Sport, namely by embracing projects with the Vital Cities, of which it is a leading partner, by promoting events that are a national and international reference, by supporting clubs, creating conditions for the sporting evolution of athletes, through the continuous improvement of infrastructures, or by promoting informal sport».
