Rogerio CodRogério Bacalhau has "the intention" to re-apply for the Chamber of Faro in the Municipal Elections of 2017. The current president of the municipality makes a "frankly positive" balance of his three years in office and revealed that he is already dealing with the re-candidacy.

The mayor who, in 2013, ran for a coalition with the CDS-PP, PPM, MPT and MIM, made a prediction in an interview with Sul Informação, that this could happen again next year. "In Faro, we are not only working with the PSD, we have a coalition, which has been working very well, we have never had any problems and we are dealing with that. But, in due course, these matters will be presented to the population».

Rogério Bacalhau says that «the balance we have made over these three years is frankly positive. Our main objective was to clean up the accounts, as it would be the engine for the next recovery, and we managed to do so in 2014, paying current debt, stabilizing the debt, and we have been considerably reducing the medium and long-term debt. It's been six years of disgust that we had in the life of the Municipality, but that is already in the past, it is something that remains in our curriculum, but it is worth little from now on».

Overcoming the most complicated situation in the accounts, «as of 2014, we started to make some recovery of the public space, namely downtown, Arco da Vila, Muralha, Rua da Misericórdia… We invested in the recovery of our heritage. In 2015, we launched the Faro It requalifies, with a set of broader interventions, because we now have the capacity to do so. In 2016, we continued with this program and we are starting the Faro Requalify 2, which will last for about a year».

The continuity of Rogério Bacalhau as a candidate for the Chamber of Faro it is supported by the PSD's strategy for Local Elections, both nationally and regionally, which supports the re-candidacies of current mayors.
