The Estádio Algarve witnessed, last night, the fastest goal in the history of the World Championships (in qualifying or finals). Belgian forward Benteke scored after 7 seconds in Belgium's 0-6 victory over Gibraltar.
After the “lightning goal by Benteke”, which set the new record – which used to be 8 seconds – followed five more, one by Witsel, two more by Benteke and one by Marteens. The final result was the same as what Portugal achieved in the Faroe Islands and the quinas team is next to visit Estádio Algarve, on the 13th of November, when they face Latvia, in the 4th round of the qualifying phase for the World Cup in Russia.
The Belgian rout satisfied the 600 fans who traveled to the Algarve to watch the match and who, yesterday afternoon, "invaded" the city center of Faro.
