psychopathologies in youth_youngThe EB 2,3 Dr. Garcia Domingues School, in Silves, on the 8th of November, and the EB 2,3 João de Deus School, in São Bartolomeu de Messines, on the 10th of November, will debate, within the scope of a awareness-raising action, the "Psychopathologies in Youth". Both sessions take place at 17:30 pm.

Aimed at parents, teachers and school staff, this action aims to "provide information, clarification and guidance on possible psychopathologies in youth" as well as "raise awareness of the importance of the role of parents, teachers and other adults in detecting symptoms and their understanding and intervention», says the Chamber of Silves.

In addition to these objectives, the awareness actions aim to “identify and demystify any fears and doubts regarding the “adolescent crisis vs psychopathologies in adolescence», adds the municipality of Silvense.

The registration period is already underway, and these must be done by the 4th of November through the registration form available on here, or with the Psychology sector or at the schools where the action takes place. Registration is free, but actions are limited to a maximum number of 25 participants.

The telephone number 282 440 800, extension 2630, and the email address [email protected] are the contacts of the Psychology sector of CMS available to provide additional information about the actions.

These awareness actions are promoted by the Psychology sector of the Chamber of Silves, in conjunction with the CPCJ of Silves and the Youth sector.

Contextualization of psychopathologies in youth:

Adolescence is a fertile period of various physical and psychological changes for all young people. The well-known "teenage crisis" is common to all those who go through it and, in most cases, despite the crises it causes within the family and in the school context, "it is nothing more than a natural and inherent process to human development" , says the Chamber of Silves.

However, there are situations that do not correspond only to the aforementioned “adolescent crisis”, as they may represent cases of psychopathology.

The importance of a joint reflection on this theme is linked to the fact that the symptoms of a psychopathology can be confused with the normal development of a young person, which, if not detected, understood and subject to an adequate intervention, can lead to pathological states of greater severity and difficult reversibility.

"The understanding and consequent attitude of parents, teachers and other adults is essential to minimize the suffering of many young people", concludes the municipality of Silvense.
