bottle-aljezur-2-e1474967149677The story sounds like a movie, but it's real: two lifeguards found, on May 10, at Arrifana Beach, on the coast of Aljezur, a bottle from the Gulf of Mexico, thrown into the sea on March 20, 2011. In the bottle came a message, a bandage and a dollar bill.

Bruno Vieira and Fábio Felizardo were taking “a walk to the beach” when they found the bottle. The message that came there identified who sent it (Lauren Jerzyk), also saying that he was on a cruise – at Inspiration Carnival Cruise. She also asked whoever found her to write back.

That's what the two lifeguards did. In a video available online, Lauren Jeryzk is delighted with this surprise. «I was in Portugal two weeks ago. When I returned home I had this letter from Portugal. I thought: what did I do there?” he says.

In the video, Lauren tells the story of how the idea of throwing the bottle into the sea came about. “I was 15 years old and I took this cruise with my father. We drank a bottle of wine and I wrote the letter». “I will tell this story to my children and my children's children”, he concludes.
