São Bras de Alportel signs protocol with DGACCPSão Brás de Alportel is the first municipality in the Algarve to integrate a nationwide project to support emigrants. Last Friday, July 29th, the local authority and the Directorate-General for Consular Affairs and Portuguese Communities signed a protocol in this regard, which also provides for the creation of an Emigrant Support Office.

According to the Chamber of São Brás, this protocol «Its objective is to reinforce the support provided to Portuguese people who are still emigrants, those who have already returned or those who will return, as well as those who intend to start a migration process». 

The Emigrant Support Office, explains the municipality, will have a «simplified access to the vast diplomatic, consular and associative structure”. 

José Luís Carneiro, Secretary of State for the Portuguese Communities, attended the signing of the protocol.
