spider fishGeneral treatments, with 1497 visits, and spiderfish and insect bites (1292) are at the top of the services provided, during the month of July, at the 32 Health Posts in Praia, available along the Algarve coast.

In total, this network made available under the 2016 Summer Plan, by the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve IP and in collaboration with the Portuguese Red Cross, made 3553 calls.

In addition to treatments and bites, 477 blood pressure measurements were taken, 128 to administer injections and 116 to perform blood glucose tests. Of this total, 43 cases were referred to other health units.

73,7% of the citizens attended at the Praia Health Posts do not reside in the Algarve Region (78,7% are residents in other regions of the country and 21,2% are foreigners) and the remaining 26,3% reside in the district of Faro, percentages that are justified given the high number of tourists, both national and foreign, who are in the Algarve region during this time of year.

The Beach Health Posts with the highest number of visits made during this period were those from Monte Gordo, Manta Rota, Armação de Pêra, Praia dos Tomates, Armona Island.

The Praia Health Posts, with service hours between 10:30 and 19:30, aim to ensure nursing health care and respond to clinical situations that can be treated on site, or, if necessary, refer the patient to a more adequate health unit and will remain in operation until September 18th.
