According to the GNR, at around 20:00 on the 4th, when they were policing the farms where the citrus harvest takes place, the military came across a “suspicious movement of two vehicles”, which aroused their attention.

In coordination with the owners of the orchards, three men were eventually arrested who were "inappropriately inside an orchard, from which they had already stolen about 200 kilos of oranges, while still having several dozen empty bags in their possession".

The Territorial Command of Faro of the GNR adds, in a press release, that it has intensified policing actions with agricultural holdings, "in order to prevent the occurrence of crimes of orange theft, in an operation called "Citrino Seguro" and which runs from July 27 to August 15th".

"As a result of these and other inspections, which were also carried out along the access roads to the farms and in places referenced by the street sales of oranges, ten individuals have already been detained in the region this year for orange theft", the authorities also say. .

The detainees were presented to the Public Ministry of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of Tavira.
