VRSA_Municipal Historical Archive_03The António Rosa Mendes Municipal Historical Archive, in Vila Real de Santo António, receives, this Friday, the 27th of May, from 9:30 am, the 3rd session of the III Jornadas de História do Baixo Guadiana.

This third session will feature the communications “Associativism in Portugal – Gymnastics in Vila Real de Santo António”, by João Caldeira Romão, and “Commerce and navigation in the Lower Guadiana during the Middle Ages”, by Susana Gómez-Martínez , from the University of the Algarve.

In the afternoon, starting at 14 pm, there will be a guided tour of the spaces that housed the oldest associations in Vila Real de Santo António, led by João Caldeira Romão.

The Baixo Guadiana History Journeys are organized by the Vila Real de Santo António City Council and count, among other speakers, with the collaboration of researchers, university professors, heritage technicians, editors, among others.

They are part of the cultural program of the Eurocity of Guadiana, a project that involves the municipalities of VRSA, Castro Marim and Ayamonte (Spain), and their mission is to share culturally on the Guadiana border.
