According to the Navy, the passenger had "symptoms of acute abdominal in need of surgery", so the INEM Guidance Center for Urgent Patients at Sea (CODU-Mar) assessed the situation as "urgent and in need of medical evacuation".

After this information, the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon) requested the activation of an air vehicle to carry out the evacuation.

The evacuation of the patient took place at 13:45 pm, with the helicopter landing at Lisbon airport, and from there the passenger was taken by the INEM medical team to the Hospital de Santa Maria, in a stable situation.

The operation was coordinated by MRCC Lisbon, in articulation with CODU-Mar and FAP.

The ship left Agadir (Morocco) on April 29, heading for the port of Lisbon, where it docks tomorrow, on May 1st.
