ECOS Portimão International Conference _ CR Alexandra CiobanuPortimão will host until Friday an International Conference on youth policies at local and regional level and their role in the development of territories, with participants from 17 countries.

The initiative, organized by the Ecos Cooperative – Education, Cooperation and Development in partnership with the Portimão Chamber, will serve to debate the participation of young people in decision-making processes at local, national and European level.

For this, 22 civil society organizations, youth technicians, young people, representatives of local political power, researchers and professionals with experience in the topic of this conference were invited to participate.

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Romania and Turkey are the countries represented.

«This action is intended to be a space for debate and sharing of reflections and good practices that enable the promotion of the participation of young people in decision-making processes at local, national and European levels, and topics such as: Structures and mechanisms of participation will be discussed of young people in decision-making processes; spaces for youth participation (municipal, regional and national councils, forums and other spaces for informal participation); cooperation between youth organizations or civil society organizations and local authorities around youth policies and youth guarantee at local and regional level in articulation with relevant stakeholders», according to the organization of the event.

This international conference is held within the framework of the “DYPALL – Developing Youth Participation at Local Level” project and is funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union.
