Airbus_A320_VuelingACRAL – Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region applauded the anticipation and reinforcement of the area connections between the Airport of Faro and the Spanish cities of Madrid and Barcelona.

This year, the existing airlines, operated by Air Nostrum and Vueling, will operate for a longer period and with more flights. the route between Faro and Madrid (Barajas Adolfo Suarez), operated by Air Nostrum, reopened this Friday and will continue until 28 October, with five weekly connections (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays).

The Madrid-Faro by Air Nostrum is not only reinforced, but anticipated by more than two months in relation to 2015, since, last year, the company only started operating the route in the month of June.

On the other hand, the offer of direct connections with Spain will be intensified in May, with the Barcelona-Faro, operated by Vueling, which also repeats the successful experience carried out in 2015 and also anticipates the resumption of operations.

From the 7th of May until the 29th of October there will be direct flights between the International Airport of Faro and El Prat de Barcelona, with three weekly calls (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).

"Spain is Portugal's main trading partner and a market with growing importance for Portuguese companies: exchange between the two economies is around 20 billion euros," recalled the newly appointed president of ACRAL Álvaro Viegas.

Last year, added the new head of the Algarve business association, "Spanish tourists generated close to 700 overnight stays in the Algarve", a "significant number that has everything to be boosted by the strengthening of air connections" between the Algarve and the two main Spanish cities.
