Signing of the EN2 repaving contractThe City Council of Faro has just signed with the company Sociedade Manuel António & Jorge Almeida – Construções SA (MAJA) the contract awarding the contract for the partial repaving of the EN2.

The work will begin at the beginning of this month of December and will make it possible to upgrade the entire section between Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian and the intersection for Escola Secundária de Pinheiro e Rosa.

The intervention results from an investment by the Municipality, totaling 86.481,60 euros, plus VAT, and the work should be ready by the beginning of next year.

The objective is to improve road traffic at this entrance to the city, by milling the bituminous pavement and supplying and applying a bituminous concrete wear layer. The repair of sidewalks is also planned, as well as the construction of five pedestrian crossings and horizontal signage.

The Chamber of Faro he also informs that, for two weeks, there will be no traffic disturbance, since the initial interventions will only focus on sidewalks and curbs.

However, closer to the Christmas holidays, work will begin on the repair and repaving of the carriageway, with traffic restrictions being planned at that time, which “will be communicated to the population in due course”.

The Municipality of Faro stresses that this is «a very important work, as it marks the beginning of a more extensive program, the Program Faro Requalifica, which will improve circulation and comfort conditions in some of the most important arteries of the county, in a total of eight interventions to be carried out in 2015 and 2016».

For this, the Municipality will make a global investment of around 1 million euros, which it presents as «one of the most important carried out in recent years, in the recovery of the municipality's road network».
