Ricardo CaléRicardo Calé, from Olhão, was elected as the new president of the Algarve Socialist Youth Federation, during the XIII Regional Congress of the Algarve Socialist Youth Structure, which took place on December 12 in the Auditorium of the Portimão Museum.

Ricardo Calé has a Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Algarve, where he was founding president of the UAlg's Pharmaceutical Sciences Students Nucleus.

He is also a member of the National Political Committee of JS and a member of the Municipal Assembly of Olhão, among other representations in associative and political structures.

In addition to addressing important issues for young people in the region, such as employment, mobility, health and emigration, the Global Strategic Motion of its “Growing Together” candidacy reinforces the need to “bring young people closer to politics” through greater dynamism in the various municipalities of JS Algarve, since “it is necessary not only to keep young people who currently play roles in the area, but also to captivate the rest”. In this sense, the objective of the structure will be to “demystify to integrate”.

Ricardo Calé points out that “the growing concern of young people with their well-being and with the country, clearly evident in their conversations and social networks, is not yet reflected in their intervention in the public and party space”.
It considers it necessary to “end with the negative connotation that political parties have gained in the recent past” and show young people that “the first step towards change involves a more serious involvement in politics”.
