The Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) congratulates the Algarve Grouping of Hotel and Tourism Schools for their recognized work in training Chefs, whose «high level of cuisine and service» led to the recent award of another Michelin star to the Algarve's restaurants, consolidating the region as a top gastronomic destination at national and international level.
The success of the former students of the Algarve Hotel and Tourism Schools is an example of the excellent training promoted.
Thus, the Executive Rui Silvestre and his team, all former students of the Hotel and Tourism Schools of the Algarve, conquered their first Michelin star for the Bon Bon restaurant, in Carvoeiro, in what is the biggest and most coveted distinction in the haute cuisine sector worldwide.
O Head João Viegas, from the star-studded São Gabriel restaurant, right-hand man of chef Leonel Pereira and also a former student of the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School, received the award for "Chief Cook of the Year 2015" in the largest national cooking competition for professionals.
RTA thus highlights the work developed by the Algarve Hotel and Tourism Schools in training highly qualified professionals, who value one of the region's greatest tourist products: its gastronomy.
