Marisa Matias will be this Thursday, November 19, at 21 pm, at Club Farense (Rua de Santo António, 00, Faro), for a session to present his candidacy for the 2016 Presidential Elections, which will be attended by the Algarve deputy from the Left Bloc João Vasconcelos.
After the official launch of the campaign on 7 November in Lisbon, Marisa Matthias he is presenting his candidacy for the country, "because this is also a candidacy of proximity and that reaches out to the citizens".
According to its promoters, it is also “a candidacy that places people, the recovery of dignity, justice and solidarity at the center of its attention”.
As the candidate says in the your electoral manifesto, «we live in exciting times. These are times of very refreshing hope. Hope in a solidary country, in a developed country, in a sovereign country. Hope in a Portugal we can be proud of. A country that treats people, citizens and women, men and women workers well, with respect, decency and dignity: in a word, that treats them like people, people who deserve much better than what they have had. (…) I apply in the name of hope for a new and just country».
The current President of the Republic Aníbal Cavaco Silva has not yet set the date for the Presidential Elections, but it is known that they will have to take place in January 2016.
According to paragraph 1 of article 125 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic “will be elected within 60 days prior to the end of his predecessor's term of office or within 60 days after the vacancy in office”.
According to the newspaper Público, Cavaco Silva admitted on Monday night, during a dinner at Quinta Vigia, seat of the Regional Government of Madeira, that he has not yet set the date, but confessed to leaning towards the 24th of January.
