health extension - azinhalThe Castro Marim City Council launched the tender for the contract for the remodeling of the Azinhal health extension, which aims to provide the space with the necessary conditions for its reopening.

The Castromarinense municipality had long been available to fund the necessary works to eliminate the constraints pointed out by the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve, when it decided to close this and other units, which had to do not only with the building itself, but also with the lack of access to the computer network.

In 2013, shortly after the closing of this health extension and those of Odeleite (Castro Marim) and Vaqueiros (Alcoutim), the local population manifested in Faro. On that day, the ARS committed to reopening the health extensions, as long as the city councils ensured the conditions of the spaces where they function or found viable alternatives.

The public institute advocated a tripartite agreement, under which the Town Halls and Parish Councils would assume some expenses. «The Chamber will be able to finance the IT equipment and the boards will guarantee the administrative part. The ARS will proceed with the doctor and the nurse», revealed, at the time, the mayor of Castro Marim Francisco Amaral, who attended the demonstration.

The terms of reference for the tender now launched determines that the work will have a maximum cost of around 35,4 euros, plus VAT, and an execution period of two months, after the award.

An investment that will allow, according to the Chamber of Castro Marim, “to put an end to the ordeal of traveling to the county seat that has since imposed itself on the population of this parish, mostly aged and with mobility difficulties”.
