AgreementTerras Infante_Prisao SilvesThe municipalities of Lagos, Aljezur and Vila do Bispo will support the construction of a Visitor's House and a Visitor/Training House in the Silves Prison, with around 15 euros.

The three councils, which make up Terras do Infante – Association of Municipalities, signed, at the beginning of the month, a collaboration agreement with the prison establishment, for the transfer of this amount.

The support will be used to buy construction material for the new space, which will be carried out by the inmates, as part of a training course for bricklayers held with the Justice Protocol Centre.

According to a note from the Chamber
de Lagos, «this establishment, serving the Barlavento Algarvio area, constitutes a public facility attached to it, namely to the municipalities that make up Terras do Infante».

The work will allow, according to the municipality, "to make up for the lack of conditions at the EP, with regard to welcoming visitors, especially in winter, and the administration of training to the prison population" and "a substantial improvement in the quality of life of the prison population, but also of their families and other supporters – namely volunteers».
