Algar Containers Assisted transshipmentThe Algar program «Vidra-te em Mim» of incentive to the correct forwarding of glass packages, has been in operation in Lagos since the end of July.

The Algarve waste management company installed several recycling bins with an assisted transfer system, which are part of a new collection circuit specially oriented to the Horeca channel (Hotel, Restaurant and Cafeteria).

The equipment that was recently installed by Algar, called Cyclea, "make it much easier for the commercial establishments to deposit glass containers in the recycling bin, since it will only be necessary to use a container, which will be provided by ALGAR (120 liters) , fixing it to the recycling bin and, through assisted transshipment, the material contained in its interior is quickly discharged to the glass recycling bin”, according to the Câmara de Lagos.

The “special” ecopoints can be found at Marina de Lagos, at Rua Victor da Costa e Silva (Back of the Adega da Marina Restaurant), at Rua José da Conceição Conde (next to the public bathhouses – Luz), at Praça Infante D. Henrique and on Avenida dos Descobrimentos (next to the court of Lagos).

In addition to the municipality of Lacobrigense, the municipality of Silves also joined the first phase of this program and started to house similar equipment.

A "Glasse yourself in Me" campaign, according to Algar, “intends to promote the diversion of recyclables from trade and services from eventual landfilling; increase the quantities of recycled packaging collected; improve the quality of this material and eliminate the bad practice (environmental and social) of its disposal around the recycling bins on public roads».

Lacobrigenses establishments interested in depositing their glass in the cyclea containers should contact the Technical-Environmental Unit of the Municipality of Lagos, through the telephone number 282 780 520.
