accident_1A head-on collision between two vehicles on the EN125, one kilometer from Lagoa, this afternoon caused two deaths and four serious injuries. The accident occurred at 12:57 pm this Sunday on the way out of this location, towards Porches, next to the existing Garden Center and close to Curva do Carmo, according to the CDOS Faro.

The same entity revealed to the Sul Informação that all the injured were transported by ambulance to the Hospital de Portimão. At this moment, «the traffic is cut in both directions, in that place» and being diverted to alternative routes.

Contacted by our newspaper, the spokesman for the Territorial Command of Faro of the GNR Lieutenant-Colonel Azevedo Palhau revealed that the two fatalities were the only occupants of one of the vehicles involved in the accident and that, «probably, both will be of Portuguese nationality». Both cars "had Portuguese license plates", he added.

the reporter from Sul Informação On the spot, he learned from the deputy of the Lagoa Fire Brigade Nuno Barros that the four seriously injured people are French citizens on vacation in the region. All of them were out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived at the scene, moments after the accident. The mortal victims are, at this moment, being expelled.

Although an alternative circuit has been created, due to the closing of this section of the EN125, it is advisable to use Via do Infante, to avoid traffic queues.

The response to this accident involved 24 workers, supported by 11 vehicles, namely an extrication vehicle, from the Lagoa and Portimão Fire Brigade, INEM, GNR and the Rotas do Algarve Litoral concessionaire.
