The “Summer in Tavira” promises to be lively. The local authority has prepared a program with several shows and activities that starts this weekend and continues until September. “Cenas na Rua”, which starts on July 3rd, gives the kick off in the schedule.
Jorge Botelho, president of the Chamber of Tavira, explained to Sul Informação that, «at this time of summer, many people come and want to have culture available to all audiences and ages. The program formally begins on the 3rd and runs until September, culminating with the Mediterranean Diet Fair and then with the Cinco Noites, Cinco Sols Festival. Every day, on every occasion, we are going to have a show».
About XI Cenas na Rua – International Festival of Theater and Arts in the Street, the mayor emphasizes that «this is the only festival of circus and street art that currently exists in the Algarve».
The event will have the presence of national and international groups and artists and begins on Friday with the performance of French Cie Barolosolo, from France, at 22 pm, at Praça da República. This will be «a production wet with antics and poetic scenes», in which one clown starts the performance with his feet in the water and another tries at all costs to avoid it. Cie Barolosolo returns to play at the same time, in the same place, on Saturday.
For Sunday, the program continues with gastronomy, with the action “Cooking in the Landscape”, by Plataforma Palato, at Rua Borda d'Água da Asseca, next to the River Gilão, at 18:30 pm. According to Câmara de Tavira, this is «a gastronomic spectacle that, under the baton of the plastic artist and cook Jorge Rocha, takes place with the landscape as a backdrop and addressing themes that place the gastronomy of each period in the intersection with the eating habits of the region. society".
Also on the 5th, the Regional Theater of Serra de Montemuro presents the play “Caídos do Céu”, at 22 pm, at Jardim do Coreto.

Closing the festival “Cenas na Rua”, on the 13th, there will once again be entertainment provided by the clowns and the music of the Spaniards Gullem Albá & All in Orchestra.

The “seventh art” will have its space at the “European Cinema” (July 17th to 27th) and “Non-European” Exhibition (August 7th to 17th), organized by the Cineclube de Tavira, in the cloisters of the Convento do Carmo .
Rua do Cais will host the Wines and Flavors Festival (July 09th to 12th) and the Book Fairs (July 17th to August 05th), of Ofícios (August 07th to 16th), Antiques and Antiques (18th to 26th of August) and of the Stocks (28th to 31st of August).
At the Municipal Museum of Tavira, the exhibitions “Memory and Future” and “Mediterranean Diet, Millennial Cultural Heritage” (Gallery Palace) and “Tavira Islâmica” (Islamic Nucleus) are on display.
At the Álvaro de Campos Municipal Library, there will be traditional games, stories and readings for children and young people. Throughout the summer, the city's churches will also be open to public visits. «The churches will be open from this month of July, in partnership with a group of young people in the city.
