Woman dies after being run over by a motorcycle on the EN125/10, in Faro

Accident on EN 125 ConcentrationA hit-and-run followed by a crash, on the road that gives access to the airport of Faro, caused one death and two serious injuries.

The deadly victim is a 24-year-old woman who was picked up by a motorcycle while trying to cross the EN 125/10, towards Faro – Airport, around 1:30 am this Saturday.

The other two victims were the occupants of the motorcycle, who lost their way after the collision with the pedestrian, a man and a woman, aged 23 and 22, respectively, who were admitted to the Hospital of Faro in serious condition.

The exact contours of the accident are still "to be determined by the GNR's Traffic Accident Investigation Nucleus", but, as he revealed to the Sul Informação Lieutenant Colonel Azevedo Palhau, spokesman for the Territorial Command of Faro of this police force, “there are no crossings in the area where the accident occurred”.

The EN 125-10, despite being a national road, has a profile of two lanes in each direction, and currently connects the EN 2 to the Airport of Faro, with which is currently taking place the International Motorcycle Concentration of the Motoclube de Faro.

According to Azevedo Palhau, elements of the GNR transit detachment from Faro and means of INEM. The woman who was run over will have died on the spot.
