beja airport_9Beja Airport will have an industrial unit dedicated to the maintenance, dismantling and certification of recoverable aircraft components. The valence, which should start operating fully within three years, could create 80 jobs and represents an investment of 8 million euros.

The formalization of the signing of the Space Occupation License by AeroNeo, the company that will explore the industrial unit, was carried out today. According to ANA Aeroportos in a note sent to the editorial offices, “AeroNeo SA, headquartered in Portugal, has an ongoing capital increase to one million euros and is owned by Switzerland GreenParts Holding SA, which holds a share capital of 6 million euros. Swiss francs'.

The ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Communications, Sérgio Monteiro, the President of ANA, Jorge Ponce de Leão and the Managing Partner of AeroNeo, Dominique E. Verhaegen.

«The project that AeroNeo will develop at the Civil Terminal in Beja is based on the GreenParts 95 concept, with the objective of valuing aeronautical assets through the integral management of end-of-life aircraft in which maintenance, dismantling, reuse and recycling are assumed to be links in integrated chains, in compliance with the best environmental practices», adds ANA.

The note also mentions that «AeroNeo forecasts a sustained growth rate for the industrial unit (with an area of 7.500 m2), which will have to dismantle five aircraft in the first year and reach 18 in the fourth year, when it may get closer expected turnover of more than 32 million euros. The models usually dismantled are AirBus 319-320 and Boeing 737».

The unit, "which is expected to come into full operation within three years, will respond to the demand for solutions in a growing market, with AeroNeo predicting that around 12.500 aircraft will be phased out of operation over the next 15 years."

Also according to ANA, «this structuring project, with a significant impact on the Alentejo region, proves the effectiveness of the strategy that ANA has been following in investing in the industrial component with a view to the sustainable development of the Civil Terminal in Beja and the Region it serves. ».

The construction of this industrial unit can provide greater utility and return to the airport, which has difficulties in attracting airlines, how did Passos Coelho take over in an interview with the country's main regional newspapers, including the Sul Informação.
