Joana has performed solo in Portugal, United Kingdom, Russia, Spain, Italy, Belgium and Czech Republic, having been awarded on several occasions in competitions at national and international level.

The program

southern classical orchestraAfter the consolidation of the concertante genre carried out by several composers, and the contribution of WA Mozart being clearly highlighted, it was at the end of the XNUMXth century that this form reached the peak of its evolution.

Beethoven's role was crucial to this evolution, especially with the Five Concertos for Piano and Orchestra, written between 1795 and 1809.

Beethoven, as a pianist, enjoyed an enormous reputation as an improviser, endowed with unrivaled musical intelligence and originality. It would therefore be inevitable that the first compositions for piano and orchestra would appear.

Although the first two Concertos clearly show influences from Haydn and Mozart, it is from the third that his genius becomes evident. And the paradigm shift that it carried out is reflected above all in the relationship between Piano and Orchestra, which plays an increasingly predominant role, rather than being a mere accompaniment of the soloist.

As our country has a strong pianistic tradition – from Vianna da Motta (a student of F. Liszt), through its most beloved disciples, Helena Sá e Costa and Sequeira Costa, to the most recent generations – the Orquestra Clássica do Sul presents the full text of the Five Concertos for Piano and Orchestra by Beethoven, featuring a selection of five young and promising Portuguese pianists.
