dock of FaroA team of researchers, made up of professors from the University of Algarve (Manuela Rosa), University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (Ricardo Bento) and the University of Lisbon (David Vale), will present on Friday, 5 de June, at an international seminar, taking place at the National Library in Lisbon, the results of the InLUT Project on the relationship between land use and transport in medium-sized cities.

The seminar, entitled InLUT – Integration of Land Use and Transport in Medium-sized Cities, will start at 9:00 am and will be attended by the Secretary of State for Spatial Planning and Nature Conservation, Miguel Castro Neto, and the Territory General Director, Rui Amaro Alves, among personalities from the scientific world.

The InLUT research project, of which UTAD is the proposing institution, aims to understand the interaction between land use and transport and how they are integrated into medium-sized cities, and their consequences for habits and travel patterns.

It is assumed that medium-sized cities have specific characteristics that distinguish them from large cities, thus causing specific mobility patterns in these cities.

Taking the cities of Castelo Branco as case studies, Faro, Santarém and Vila Real, the aim of the project is to understand in depth how these issues interrelate in these cities, in order to find references and guidelines for integrated land use and transport policies to promote sustainable mobility patterns for these realities.
