The trailer of a tractor loaded with people overturned this Saturday, during the pilgrimage of the Festa da Pinha, causing 10 injuries, two of which in serious condition.
GNR source told the Sul Informação that the accident occurred around 13:00 on an access road to Ludo, parish of Almancil, where the pilgrims from Festa da Pinha have their picnic on May 2, at Festa da Pinha.
O Sul Informação I also learned that, despite two people suffering serious injuries, none of the injured is in danger of life.
The injured people were under the trailer when it turned over. According to witnesses at the scene, at least one of the injured women waited about an hour for an ambulance to arrive to take her to the hospital in Faro.
The Festa da Pinha is a traditional festival in Estoi, which began as a tribute by the muleteers to Nossa Senhora do Pé da Cruz. On May 2, groups of pilgrims, in decked carts and tractors, leave Estoi in the morning, after a blessing from the local parish priest, to head to Pinhal do Ludo, where they have picnics.
It was the trailer of one of those decked tractors that ended up overturning, causing the ten injured.
According to the CDOS, 11 vehicles and 23 men were mobilized to the scene, in order to provide relief to the wounded.
