michael beachAfter being the fastest driver on Friday on the track in Curitiba (Brazil), Miguel Praia closed the qualifying on the Brazilian track this Saturday in 2nd place.

After a final free practice session, in which he sought to finalize the details of the set-up on his Honda CBR 1000R SP with the colors of the Center Moto, the Albufeira rider was just over three thousandths off the pole, achieving, in the fourth of the seven laps that he performed at 3.695 meters of the track, a time of 1m20.726s.

On a day when only three riders ran in the second 20, precisely the top three in qualifying, Miguel Praia found space for a lap clean, in a session where many tried to find the providential ride to help improve registration.

“Qualifying was very complicated, with a lot of people waiting for the competition and that caused a lot of disruption. Anyway, I managed to do a good lap and, even though qualifying wasn't our strong point, we were second. Above all, we evolved during the morning session and this is important for the race, which was our main objective», said Miguel Praia from the Algarve.

After the training sessions, always among the fastest drivers, Miguel Praia bets this Sunday on a race that will certainly be much discussed, given the proximity of times between the fastest drivers, with the first four being separated by less than one second.

With some details still to be refined in the warm up, the race will, however, be decisive for the final result of this first round of the Moto 1000GP.

«I think we have a good commitment for tomorrow [today], let's just test one or another solution in the warm up and we will bet, above all, on the second half of the race, because we have more balance for now with the used tyres, and tomorrow we will try to better balance the set for the new tires for the start of the race», he added.

Curiosity is the fact that Miguel Praia is the only Portuguese-speaking rider on the front row of the grid for this initial round of the Moto 1000GP, with the Argentinians taking precedence among the top eight with three riders representing their colors.

The Brazilians placed two drivers in the list of the best eight, followed by an Italian, a Frenchman and Miguel Praia.

This Sunday, the race promises to be very lively and Miguel Praia wants to be with his Honda CBR 1000R SP among the first from the very beginning.
