high cultural weekFrom April 24th to May 1st, Alte is hosting the XXI Cultural Week, which will liven up the village with exhibitions, poetry, sports, crafts, traditional games, regional products, activities for children, stand up comedy, gastronomy, fado or dance .

According to the municipality, the Cultural Week aims to «provide a diversified entertainment program, showing all the cultural wealth of Alte», a place that was once considered «one of the most Portuguese villages in Portugal».

The program starts on the 24th, with an emphasis on another evening at the Village and Live Music at Associação Cultural de Alte, starting at 22 pm.

The Alte Mountain Bike Tour/Marathon, which marks the 17th edition, will liven up the morning of April 25th. The competition will have several levels – Family Tour, Classic Tour, Leisure Half Marathon, Leisure Marathon and Algarve Cup of Marathons XCM (integrated in the celebrations of Loulé European City of Sport 2015).

On the 26th, at 10:00 am, there will be a Human Chess, and throughout the day various activities are planned for the younger ones, at Fonte Pequena. At 21 pm, at the Salão da Casa do Povo, the Stand Up Comedy show with Serafim takes place.

César Matoso, Fábio Rebordão and Jorge Fernando are the guests at the Noite de Fado, at Casa do Povo, on April 27, starting at 21 pm.

On the 28th, at 21 pm, the Alte Museological Pole hosts an Interdisciplinary Duet, with Josué Nunes on classical guitar and a projection of visual compositions by Vinicius Almada.

The Amateur Theater Group of Associação Cultural de Alte will stage the play “Triologia do Quotidiano Rural” on the 29th, at 21 pm, at Casa do Povo.

On April 30, the Cândido Guerreiro and Condes de Alte Museum Center celebrates its 6th anniversary and will carry out activities throughout the day for children.

At the end of the Alte Cultural Week, on May 1st, the village receives «one of the most important ethnographic events in the Algarve – the Traditional Wedding with a Wedding and Fair and Folklore Festival».

During these days, various exhibitions will also be open to the public, such as “Visão a Preto e Branco”, by Rui Palma, and “Life and Work by Francisco Xavier Cândido Guerreiro” (Museological Center of Alte), Exhibition of Handmade Chess Boards, made by the altenses (Casa Memória d'Alte), “The Art that grows from the trees” (Fonte Pequena and Largo José Cavaco Vieira) and mural painting in the village of “Cravos”.
