Despite the defeat in what was the last game of the season, the formation of Portimão had already ensured the return to the 1st national division of the sport. However, it is likely that he will not take advantage of this step up.
The game would end up being marked by a final involved in great emotion on the part of athletes and families, as it is probably the last participation of the senior team of Portinado in competitions, as the club's management is considering closing this category in the next season.
"The fact that the sport is increasingly concentrated in the North of the country, forcing long and costly travel, and the lack of support, whether state or private, makes it unaffordable to maintain a senior team in activity," stresses the club.
Portinado's focus will be on «continuing the children's and youth classes, so that all the investment made in the last decade is not lost» in the modality of the Water Polo.
