Lagoa Wine Show_1Lagoa will apply for «Capital do Vinho» in 2016, revealed the mayor Francisco Martins following the success of the first edition of the Lagoa Wine Show, which attracted nearly 4000 people to the Arade Congress Centre, between 2 and 4 Of april.

The day with the biggest flood was Friday, because it was a holiday. During the afternoon, there were many visitors, who participated in the various programmed activities, and, in the evening, Ana Moura's concert was sold out.

Over the three days, 125 wine producers were present, including 22 from the Algarve region. The fair included blind tastings of about two hundred wines, from sparkling to whites, rosé, reds and fortified, specialized colloquia on themes in the wine sector, with renowned personalities in the area, gastronomic demonstrations and the presentation of a book.

Lagoa Wine Show_3After the official inauguration of the Lagoa Wine Show started with an equestrian demonstration, by Real Picadeiro, the highlights of the animation were in charge of the strong musical group – Áurea, Ana Moura, Pedro Abrunhosa and DJ Poppy.

Francisco Martins, mayor of Lagoa, stressed, in his opening speech, that “wine is part of our identity, it is part of the people of Lagos”. «Everything that we, Câmara, can do to promote our municipality, we have to do it obligatory and obviously in the best way possible, without worrying only about selling the sun and beach product! We have to show and make known our identity outside and inside, sell everything that has to do with us and, in this case, with the quality of Lagoa wines».

Hence, according to the mayor, the Lagoa Wine Show is «to continue», preparing the municipality to apply for «Capital do Vinho» in 2016.
