The Legendary Tigerman returns to the Algarve and presents “True” next Saturday, at 21 pm, at Teatro Municipal de Portimão (TEMPO). But this is a show that has nothing to do with the ones the artist gave in the Algarve region at the end of 30.
Completing a year of release on the 17th, and after several concerts abroad, the album remains “very fresh” and it's time for Paulo Furtado to take the new record all over the country.
De one man band as a duo, the trio is the format now chosen for the presentations of The Legendary Tigerman, with the company of Paulo Segadães, on drums, and João Cabrita, on baritone saxophone, which, according to Paulo Furtado to Sul Informação and FM STREET, “it is an incredible asset and allows for a much greater degree of experimentation and improvisation”.
For Saturday at TEMPO, Paulo Furtado promises that there is no space for a show like the previous ones and warns that anything is possible. The Legendary Tigerman explains that, “in this format, we can change the set almost every night, we change the way we play the songs and we have a space for improvisation that is much bigger and so there ends up being a greater number of possibilities”.
In the last quarter of 2014, the Algarve hosted two concerts by The Legendary Tigerman and it is with affection that Paulo Furtado remembers the Algarve public. “I love the audience in the Algarve and I believe there is a big core of fans and a big core of fans of rock'n'roll"He says.
“I always love playing in the Algarve and fundamentally I like people dancing, freeing themselves and being happy! I think there is less prejudice and more open minds”, he adds in his interview.
“True” is the sixth feature of The Legendary Tigerman and clearly created a new space in the musician's creative environment, where the album itself took a prominent place in terms of the art of experimenting.
Paulo Furtado recalls that “many things happened for the first time on this record without me looking for it. It's the first time I've written in the format one man band, directly in the rehearsal room. I isolated myself for three or four months composing, daily, and this ended up creating a very interesting routine in the format of one man band, which I think I was able to explore to the full on this record. On the other hand, I looked at the record and felt that something was missing and that was when something else very interesting happened – another turning point. I asked Rita Redshoes and Filipe Melo to make string arrangements and João Cabrita to make wind arrangements and, in a way, this led to a big change in the record. All of this is a combination of things that never happened.”
