DiogoDiogo Gago and Jorge Carvalho are already in Ireland preparing the Circuit of Ireland Rally, the Irish competition of the European Junior Rally Championship.

After their debut on snow in Liepaja, the Portuguese duo from the Peugeot Rally Academy will now be in Ireland for the first time, where they will find one of the most spectacular asphalt races in the sport and also very characteristic, with its fast and narrow specials revealing itself as another great challenge for Diogo Gago and Jorge Carvalho.

The Irish rally of the European Rally Championship will have around twenty entries among Juniors, "proving once again that this is the right and most demanding bet for young people who want to assert themselves in the international rally scene", he stresses the Algarvian pilot's press office.

«It will be a completely new test for us and we have to start learning its tricks very early. We will try to learn the rally and soon start to gain confidence, although we have already realized that it will not be an easy rally, because everything will be new for us», commented Diogo Gago.

The Peugeot Rally Academy driver said that the pair hopes to "be competitive". “We are going to work to obtain a good result, even though we are aware that we will face very strong competition. This is a very characteristic asphalt rally, as the sections are very fast, narrow and with many jumps and rebounds that demand maximum concentration and confidence».

In what will be his first race on asphalt since the Rally du Var last November, Diogo Gago points out that “the Peugeot 208 R2 is a very good car on asphalt, with an excellent chassis and which gives great driving pleasure”.

"For this race in Ireland we have few set-up bases, as the conditions are very different from what we are used to, so it is only in the test before the race that we will have a real perception of what it will be like," he added.

The Circuit Of Ireland Rally starts with the Qualifying Stage on Thursday, and on Friday and Saturday there are eighteen special qualifying events, with the final scheduled for the beginning of Saturday night in Belfast, capital of Ireland. North.
