The Algarve Ruben Faria (KTM) was today the best Portuguese in the 10th stage of the Dakar2015, finishing 3rd, 1min57sec from the winner, the Spanish Joan Barreda Bort (KTM). Ruben is ranked 7th overall.
Paulo Gonçalves (Honda), who holds 2nd place in the overall standings, lost more than two minutes today to Spaniard Marc Coma (KTM), leader of the Dakar. Gonçalves finished the stage, which connected Calama (Chile) and Salta (Argentina), in 5th place, but Coma was 2nd.

The fourth Portuguese in the competition, Mário Patrão (Yamaha), withdrew in this stage. On his Facebook page, the Seia driver commented: “I did everything I could, but this was a Dakar to forget. I always fought to get to Buenos Aires, but the bike was never up to par, it was too bad. I don't feel defeated, I feel sad, but the Dakar is just that, a test of surprises».
This Thursday, the 15th, the 11th stage will be run, between Salta and Termas de Rio Hondo, in Argentina, with the bikes having to cover a 351 km special.
