elisabete_dunas_2Pilot Elisabete Jacinto reached the 3rd place among the trucks, in yesterday's stage, the 8th, of the Africa Eco Race 2015.

The 358 timed kilometers, which made up the eighth special of the marathon, proved to be extremely difficult to fulfill, as it was another day in which the Mauritanian desert did not give truce to the competitors of this seventh edition of the Africa Race.

The treacherous sand tracks, which were a constant throughout most of this Wednesday's route, made it very difficult for the OLEOBAN® team, who spent 7h05m45s to carry out the selective sector that started and ended in Azougui. Even so, the Portuguese trio secured the 9th place in the car/truck joint table.

Elisabete Jacinto, who remains committed to achieving good classifications stage after stage, revealed that the route was “really hard and exhausting. We passed through areas of dunes that were very difficult to cross and twice had to stop to remove the truck from the sand”.

elisabete_dunas_3And, he added, “if yesterday [Tuesday] we didn't waste time digging, today was a day to work the shovel. But we weren't the only ones with difficulties. The powerful KAMAZ and TATRA of Tomecek were also buried in the soft sand areas and their lives were not made easy”.

“Although it was a very complicated stage, we managed to reach 3rd place in the truck category. We are on our toes, but happy for the good result”, said the Portuguese.

In terms of rankings, this Africa Eco Race 2015 is led in the truck category by the Russian Anton Shibalov, driver of the KAMAZ team, while the French Mathieu Serradori (Predator) is the first in the general auto/truck classification.

Africa Race 2015 is entering its final stretch. Today takes place the 9th stage of this great African marathon, which will have 366 timed kilometers, on a day when sand will once again be the predominant floor.

elisabete_dunas_1In addition to the sandy tracks, competitors will also pass through an area of rocks, along the sublime Vallée Blanche, which will not be easy to overcome. This journey will undoubtedly be a great challenge to the ability to navigate and drive.
