The secrets of the municipality of Lagoa were discovered in another family trip organized by the Algarve Tourism Region. The initiative, part of the project «Rediscovering the Secrets of the Algarve», aims to make known to «professionals who help sell the destination», such as journalists and travel agents, the best that the Algarve has to offer.
In Lagoa, on a rainy day – 20 November – a group of about 20 people explored places and flavors so that they could then share them with those who visit and read about the region.
The visit began at the Convento de São José, in Lagoa, now the city's cultural hall, with the reception of councilor Luís Encarnação, and continued in Estômbar with a visit to the Igreja Matriz, a national monument, guided by the parish priest of Ferragudo and Estômbar Miguel Pereira, who went ahead with the intention of opening the space to visits after carrying out some rehabilitation works. The next stop was made at Fontes de Estômbar, with a guided tour of the tidal mill in that location and the Nature Interpretation Centre.
In Ferragudo, it was the turn of the chairman of the Parish Council, Luís Alberto, to show, on a walk, the streets and alleys of the village, followed by lunch with the characteristic flavors of the region.
The rainy afternoon did not allow for a long walk along the new walkway between Algar Seco and the small church of Senhora da Encarnação, in Carvoeiro, but this was also one of the stopping points. The last “secret” revealed on this day in the municipality of Lagoa was the Adega Cooperativa de Lagoa, where a wine tasting took place, some of them awarded internationally.
The next Fam Trip is scheduled for January and will take place in the municipality of Aljezur.
