Tourism and community funds debated today in the Algarve

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERATurismo de Portugal organizes this Thursday, September 25, at 14:30 pm, at the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Faro, the third public conference for the elaboration of an Action Plan for the development of tourism in the country and regions until 2020, which aims to frame the priorities for the use of community funds in Tourism.

The preparation of the Action Plan for the Development of Tourism in Portugal 2014-2020 for the use of community funds 2014-2020 will be based on a process of involvement and consultation between the various agents in the sector, public and private, as a result of their participation in conferences and technical workshops held in the different tourist regions of the country. Coimbra and Évora were the first host cities of this initiative.

The Secretary of State for Tourism Adolfo Mesquita Nunes, the President of Tourism of Portugal João Cotrim de Figueiredo, the President of the CCDR of the Algarve David Santos, the President of the Municipality of Faro Rogério Bacalhau, and the president of the Algarve Tourism Region Desidério Silva, are some of the participants in the event.

On the associative side, the presence of the president of the Hotel Association of Portugal (AHP), Luís Veiga, the president of the Association of Hotels and Touristic Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA), the vice-president of the Association of Hoteliers and Similar Industries do Algarve (AHISA), Vítor Faria, the president of the Business Group of the Algarve Region and President of the Organizing Committee of BTL, Vítor Neto, and the president of CNIG – National Council of the Golf Industry, Diogo Gaspar Ferreira.

The conference culminates with the signing of the Cooperation Protocol – Tourism 2020, which symbolically marks the adhesion of various entities (public and private) to the collaborative process of building the Tourism 2020 Action Plan.

The objective of this Action Plan is to establish itself as a strategic reference for Portugal and for the Regions in the context of the 2014-2020 community programming cycle. In addition, it intends to contribute to greater articulation and selectivity between investments, ensuring a better application of community funds in the development of Tourism.
