The association Amigos do Museu de Portimão will have its first general meeting on September 29, at 18 pm, at the Museu de Portimão. This grand inaugural meeting is intended, among other things, to elect its first governing bodies.
The General Assembly is open to all who want to be Founding Members of this association.
At the magna meeting, the Statutes and Regulations of the association of “Amigos do Museu de Portimão” will also be discussed and voted on.
The committee constituted at the meeting that took place in the Museum on June 6th, led by Dr. Daniel Cartucho, will present a list to the Governing Bodies, but that does not prevent other proposals for lists from the associates.
Anyone who wants to join the association and cannot attend on the date indicated must send their data, full name and telephone number to [email protected] .
Among the founding partners are, for example, brothers António and José António (Pepe) Feu, painters Margarida Tengarrinha and Vera Christians, writer Maria do Vale Cartaxo, surgeon Daniel Cartucho, archaeologists Rui Parreira, Elena Morán and Isabel Soares, the journalist Elisabete Rodrigues, the researcher Helena Correia. But many more can still join this group of founders.
According to the minutes of the constituent assembly of last June, «the general objectives of this Association are, namely, to collaborate with the direction of the Museum of Portimão in the implementation and development of its activities; to promote public knowledge of the Portimão Museum, in its cultural and scientific aspects; to promote the enrichment of the Portimão Museum collection and its better equipping with technical means of work, namely museographic, scientific, didactic, archival, laboratory and bibliographic assets, in partnership with the Municipality of Portimão and the Museum; maintain relations with all citizens and entities deemed relevant to the pursuit of its objectives».
