\Xeondesenv economicoPLANNINGDetail PlansPIER AtlaThe period of public discussion of the Intervention Plan in Rural Areas at Herdade do Zorreiro, in Malavado (Odemira), runs until the 4th of September.

The Plan is promoted by Atlantic Growers, a company with Dutch capital, which wants to expand the production of pepper to the 35,5 hectares of that estate, adjacent to its current exploitation. vitaped and a new product, the tomato tumble.

Both products will be produced in glass eco-greenhouses, and the Atlantic Growers project has been classified with PIN status. The land, currently, as can be seen in the pieces that make up the Rural Space Intervention Plan (PIER) of Herdade do Zorreiro, is occupied by deactivated plastic greenhouses.

In the PIER's Terms of Reference, it is stated that its scope is “conceptually convergent with the development and planning strategies for the area in question”. However, as there were «some incompatibilities with the parameters and indices established in the PDM», Atlantic Growers proposal was developed «by signing a planning contract with the Municipality of Odemira, for the preparation of the PIER for Herdade do Zorreiro».

According to the municipality, this period of public participation results from the amendments made to the Herdade do Zorreiro Rural Area Intervention Plan, resulting from the conference of services and the additional period of consultation.

By resolution taken at an ordinary meeting of the Chamber on July 17, public discussion is open for a period of 22 business days, counting from the fifth day after the publication date of the notice in the Diário da República, in the 2nd series, which took place on the 29th of July.

The process relating to the change in the Intervention Plan is available for consultation at the Balcão Único of the Municipality of Odemira, on the website www.cm-odemira.pt and in the Parish Council of Longueira/Almograve.

During the period of public participation, all interested parties may submit observations or suggestions or obtain clarifications in writing, which can be delivered by hand, by mail to the Municipality of Odemira, Praça da República, 7630-139 Odemira, or by email for planning @cm-odemira.pt.

Atlantic Growers is the only European producer of the new variety pepper vitaped. It is a mini orange pepper, sweet and highly nutritious, with three times more vitamin C than oranges. The company also intends to produce, starting next year, tomatoes of the new variety tumble.
