superbikesTom Sykes (Kawasaki) and Jonathan Rea won the two races of the Superbike World Championship held this Sunday at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão.

On a day when the main protagonist was the rain, Sykes categorically won the first Superbike race, which took place at the end of the morning.

The current world champion in title lost some positions at the start, but soon began his recovery, to grab first place and climb to the highest place on the podium, ahead of Sylvain Guintoli (Aprilia) and Loris Baz (Kawasaki).

In the second race, the weather conditions worsened, with the rain making an uninterrupted presence.

Jonathan Rea returned to starring in an excellent start, immediately grabbing first place, not to let go.

Over the weekend, more than 30.000 spectators visited the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve

Behind were several fights and disagreements: Marco Melandri (Kawasaki) and his teammate Sylvain Guintoli fell out when they were second and third respectively, leading to a stunning fall.

Guintoli still managed to get back into the race. Setback that provided D. Guigliano (Ducati) to grab the second final position and Chaz Davies (Ducati) the third.

Tom Sykes' life was not easy and, with the rain, he gradually lost positions, finishing in a modest eighth place.

After a close fight, it was Michael Van Der Mark (Honda) who managed to win the Supersport race in Portimão, despite being pressured by Jack Kennedy (Honda) and Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki).

Van Der Mark thus cements the lead in the Championship, taking his fourth victory this season. Victory that was achieved without completing all the laps of the Portimão Circuit, thanks to heavy rain that forced the red flag.

Superstock 1000 and European Junior Cup

In the European Junior Team, the Spanish Augusto Fernandez won again this season, after a stunning final race, where the first five drivers were separated by a few thousandths of a second.

David Ferreira, representative of the national colors, got a good 14th place, in what was his debut in the competitions of this Championship.

In the Superstock 1000, Lorenzo Salvadori (Kawasaki) was the last winner of the day, in the race that ended the Superbike World Championship at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
