Algarve and Seville renew partnership in TourismThe old maxim “unity is strength” can also be applied in tourism and at cross-border level. The Algarve Tourism Region and the Province Tourism – delegation – of Seville renewed this Friday, 4 July, the agreement aimed at promoting the Algarve in Seville and Seville in the Algarve, in a ceremony that took place at the headquarters of the Algarve Tourism Region, in Faro.

Despite being, to a certain extent, competing destinations, the Algarve and Andalusia are seeking, with this partnership in force since 2012, to gain scale and make, between them, better deals.

“We are talking about the competitiveness of the markets, we have to be competitive, but we also manage to make agreements. It doesn't bother me that tourists who spend seven days in the Algarve spend a day or two in Seville and vice versa. It is necessary to value the products and, this exchange of experiences, ideas and knowledge on both sides only reinforces the tourist destinations of both regions», illustrated, during the renewal of the protocol, the president of RTA Desidério Silva.

Now, it was Seville's turn to promote its tourist products on Algarve soil. Seville Tourism had a stand with information about the different tourist attractions in Seville, installed in the Manuel Bivar garden, in Faro, on the 4th and 5th of July, then on to Marina de Portimão, yesterday, Sunday.

Equestrian tourism, the castle route that proposes a visit to a vast recovered heritage, the bull territory, which promotes the traditions linked to wild bulls, family holidays, Sevillian culture, wine and gastronomy were some of the proposals presented.

This promotion of Seville in the Algarve is important for that region of Spain, «taking into account the 120 thousand overnight stays of Portuguese registered annually in that destination», stressed the Vice President of Tourism of the Province – delegation – of Seville Juana Carmona Gonzalez.

For this responsible, the cemented agreement, on the one hand, “enhances business exchange, (…) through the expansion of commercial contacts. making the business of entrepreneurs more visible” and, on the other hand, it translates into an “increase in tourists that can benefit Seville's tourism and Algarve's tourism”.

During the ceremony, which brought together businessmen from both regions, travel agencies and the media, it was also announced that the III Luso-Andaluz meeting of companies, to be held in Seville in the last quarter of 2014, will have a new feature: the introduction of an invited country which, this year, is Morocco.
