A fire reached a forested area in Alferce, in the municipality of Monchique, which was declared to be under fire by the Civil Protection around 17 pm, roughly two hours after it began to be fought.

The fire began at 15 pm today, Friday, and was fought off by around fifty firefighters, supported by 17 vehicles and two helicopters.

According to what was found on the ground, the Sul Informação, the fire focused on an area of ​​difficult access, so the fight was mainly carried out by air. But the Barlavento Fire Fighting Brigade will also have visited the site, one of the strengths of the device to fight forest fires which aims to increase the effectiveness of the initial response.
